Personality-
Numa is a shy one. He was the youngest of all the dogs to be shipped over here from other countries on that first trip and was honestly terrified by the whole experience and everything that may come of it. All of the other dogs around him have always been larger, more powerful and intimidating, making the smaller Numa feel out of place and afraid...
Now older and closer to the size of most dogs, he hasn't grown out of his puppyhood shyness yet but he's working on it. He's open enough to talk to others if he sees someone in need of help, but he probably won't be the one helping. Frightened easily and very cowardly, he's the target of endless ridicule. His breed was meant to fight not hunt, both things he does rather poorly. So, any brutish larger dog in the area when he screws up often takes advantage of Numa's inability to fight back. Put short, he's made fun of all the time.
As you might guess, this results in poor self-esteem and a minuscule sense of self-worth, not to mention the overflowing modesty he shows when he does do something right. He tries to avoid talking about himself though, often preferring to congratulate others for their achievements. He's actually rather compassionate and friendly when in a good and playful mood and he'll bound right up to you with a big smile. He just finds everyone else so amazing and worthy of his envy simply because he's not worthy of it himself.
To sum it all up, Numa is shy, quiet and modest when with strangers and others he doesn't know very well, cowardly and compassionate when with those he cares about and a generally fun and good natured fellow, if easily confused...
Strengths: Easy to get along with, actually rather good at making friends, very fast due to smaller size and breed heritage, has a powerful fighting spirit in there somewhere...
Weaknesses: Modest and prone to putting himself down a lot, feels out of place among bigger American dogs, owner believes he's a good bear dog... when he isn't, can't really fight or look intimidating, isn't very strong even for his size, prone to mood swings, extremely reliant on humans...
History-
Born in a puppy mill in North Korea, Numa was practically dead the moment he was born. The puppy mill wasn't exactly clean, as most tend not to be, and his mother was in poor health. As such, so were her puppies. Three were still born and four were weak and almost dead anyway. The mill was part of an underground fighting ring so the strongest of the puppies were taken and cared for and the other two were dumped with the dead bodies.
As you might've guessed, Numa was dumped with the bodies of his three dead siblings and his mother who died in the birthing process. He was but a few hours old at the time, his eyes still closed and generally helpless. Lucky for him, this meant he remembers little of what had happened that day years later and is still only aware that his mother "died".
Picked up by another bunch of low-lives, he and his brother were taken off to another smaller fighting ring where they were trained to be fighters... Or, rather, the humans tried to train them to be fighters. Like most Jindos, his brother took to the training well, growing angry and attacking the humans who beat on them as they wanted him to. he would go off to become a great fighting dog. Numa, on the other hand, was too cowardly and kind for a life of fighting. They would've killed him if it wasn't for a nice American man...
Like many at the time, the man had been looking for a relative of the great bear dogs of Japan but he wasn't a very experienced hunter, nor was he exactly good with dogs and breeds and all the essential information a hunter should have. He just wanted to get famous and as Japanese dogs grew more and more expensive, he shifted his attention to neighboring countries, like Korea. There, he found the cheapest dog he could get his hands on that was still a good fighter and stuff...
... He ended up with Numa.
The guy who ran the fighting ring was desperate to get rid of the weak jindo so he lied to the man, who had no idea he was buying a dog from a fighting ring. He said Numa was an excellent fighter and that the whip wounds from his failed training were actually claw marks from bears he'd beaten. The American idiot fell for it and Numa was brought to the US on a huge boat full of other, larger, more powerful Japanese dogs. Most of them were big akitas or mastiffs 5 years and up. Numa, at the time, was only 5 months old. Young, inexperienced and frightened, that long boat ride has never left his mind...
Now, his owner is still convinced he's an amazing hunting dog and that he can easily take down a bear, despite the dog's small size and advice from others. Numa's not so sure...
Theme songs-
Yugioh The Movie- You're not me
You think I've got it all
You think I've got it made well
How come my only friends are the ones I pay?
No one understands
What I would do to change my life for just one day
Don't say if I were you (say if I were you)
Or tell me what you'd do
Or things would be if
You were in my shoes
Cuz you're not me
You know what I need
And it's not another serenade
I get so tired of all the things you say
So give me what I want
if you only would
I'd gladly throw this all away
Don't say if I were you (say if I were you)
Or tell me what you'd do
Or things would be if
You were in my shoes (cuz you're not me)
Please take me as I am (take me as I am)
This isn't what I planned
But I don't expect that
You can understand
Cuz you're not me
I know you think you're bein' nice
But spare me all your lame advice
Time to play my hand and role the dice
Everybody's got their price
For far to long I've been denied
I'm makin' my move so just step aside
No one can say I never tried
To do everything to get back my pride
Hey, you were never me
Why can't you see
That you're not me (me, me, me, me, me, me, me)
Don't say if I were you (say if I were you)
Or tell me what you'd do (tell me what you'd do)
Or how things would be if
You were in my shoes (cuz you're not me)
Please help me if you can (help me if you can)
This isn't what I planned (this isn't what I planned)
But I don't expect that
You can understand
Cuz you're not me
